Sony Ericsson has just rolled out the 1.6 Eclair update kit for Xperia X10's Android OS.

Nordic countries will be the first to get it today while more kits will come tomorrow for other territories. The roll-out will continue throughout November.

Android 2.1 Eclair update kit for Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 will bring these key changes to the device:

What will Sony Ericsson bring next week? Sept. 21, 2009

15-09-2009: Sony Ericsson has planned a new launch event upcoming Monday. Via a webcast, everyone will be able to experience the launch of a new product, which is focused on a good music experience.

Today, Sony Ericsson published a website at which a live webcast is announced for Monday next week. At September 21, 6:00-6:30 PM (Philippines Time), Sony Ericsson will announce a new product that has everything to do with music.

What exactly will be the product that Sony Ericsson will announce on the area of music is something we don't know yet, and when we check out the website at which the live webcast will be posted, we're not getting any clues either. When looking at the graphics, we believe that the product will be focused on the younger mobile caller and the device will change the world of music forever, reading the texts at the website. We're curious!

Sony Ericsson announces C510 Cybershot, W508 Walkman phones

Sony Ericsson fans will be happy to know that a new Cybershot phone as well as a Walkman phone are confirmed to debut this year.

The Sony Ericsson C510 is a 3.2-megapixel Cybershot phone that comes with a 2.2-inch TFT scratch-resistant display, Bluetooth, Google Maps, direct YouTube upload, slide-in lens cover, and 100MB internal memory. It likewise features Smile Shutter, Face Detection and Photo Fix. It’ll be available in the 1Q of this year in two color options: Radiation Silver and Future Black. Price is yet to be known, but it expected to be more on the affordable side.

Meanwhile, the W508 is the new Walkman phone to watch out for. It’s a clamshell that features a 2.2-inch internal scratch-resistant display, a 1.1-inch monochromatic OLED external scratch-resistant display, 3.2-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, NetFront browser, 100MB internal memory and a 1GB Memory Stick Micro as part of the package. Of course, since this is a Walkman phone, you can expect TrackID, Mega Bass, Shake Control and SensMe to be present as well. It’ll be available in Q2 of this year with a yet to be known price.

While these two may offer very little in terms of groundbreaking features, they certainly have the looks and styling to succeed in the market.

Sony XPERIA X1 Official Price, New Panels now Available

I’ve got good news and bad news for all your Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 hopefully owners out there. The good news is that the XPERIA X1 is now available in Sony Ericsson concept stores which means its official price is out as well. The bad news is that it’s higher than what we were expecting. Its SRP is P42500 to be exact; much more expensive than a 3G iPhone 8GB prepaid kit or a Samsung Omnia, but still cheaper than an HTC Touch Pro.

On a similar note, Sony Ericsson has launched two new panels for the XPERIA X1. The Facebook panel allows users to seamlessly integrate their Facebook account with their mobile phone. It even comes with call to contacts functionality. The Windows Live panel, on the other hand, provides you with an easy way to sync and import your Windows Live contacts to your XPERIA X1’s phonebook. It also gives you an easy access to Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail. These two new exciting panels that will definitely enable you to get the most out of your XPERIA X1.

So now that the XPERIA X1 is finally out, will you be getting yours soon or will you be waiting for something better to come out in 2009?

XPERIA X1 Update: Pics Galore, Release Moved to Nov. 28

Sad news for those who we’re planning to get their Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 phones on the 14th. We’ve just been informed that the release has been moved to a later date, November 28 to be exact. The expected price, unfortunately, has also changed due to the depreciation of the Philippine Peso and we don’t have confirmation yet as to how much it might now cost. Hopefully, it won’t cross the P50K threshold and the release won’t be prolonged any longer.

Anyway, here’s a treat for those waiting for some actual photos of the XPERIA X1. These are some of the shots that I took of the XPERIA X1 that was loaned to me so you can have a better idea of what it really looks like from almost every angle.

Here’s a side-by-side comparison with a Nokia 6300 and an iPod Touch. While I so wanted to compare it to a 3G iPhone, I don’t have one at the moment so the next best thing available was my iPod Touch.

As you can see, they’re almost all the same length, but the XPERIA X1 is noticeably thicker. As for as XPERIA X1’s display is concerned, it strikes just the right balance between brightness and richness of color. You might also notice in some of the pictures that the chrome finish and touchscreen are a bit of a dust and fingerprint magnet so that might be a point of concern for those who are obsesively compulsive about cleanliness of their gadgets.

XPERIA X1 site Now Up and Running

rue to their word, Sony Ericsson has launched an XPERIA X1 site where you can sign up to be one of the first to own their new mobile phone.

This site not only caters to Philippine residents, but is also applicable to Indonesians and Malaysians as well. You just need to enter your name, e-mail address and mobile phone so that you’ll be informed once the XPERIA X1 is available for purchase in your country.

We have it on good authority that the big day will be on November 14 as far as the Philippines is concerned, and the price is just a hairline below P40K. That gives you approximately two weeks to save up for this Windows Mobile-powered smartphone, but if you’ve been patiently waiting for the XPERIA X1’s arrival in the local market since its announcement way back in February, you probably would have saved up enough money to buy one unless, of course, you were swayed by your friends to buy a 3G iPhone. If not, then your long wait will soon be rewarded by a brand new touchscreen-enabled, QWERTY-equipped, Windows Mobile smartphone that’s been well crafted by the hard working folks of Sony Ericsson.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1: Available Nationwide starting Nov. 15

I’ve got great news for all those Sony Ericsson loyalists and techies who have been patiently waiting for the arrival of the XPERIA X1 locally. We’ve received confirmation that the XPERIA X1 will hit Sony Ericsson concept stores nationwide on Nov. 14, 2008.

Sony Ericsson Philippines will also be putting up a dedicated site for the XPERIA X1 which will go live on November 1 for those who wish to make an advanced reservation to be guaranteed a unit when it becomes available. Of course, this is still on a first-come first-serve basis so it still pays to sign up early. As for its price, let’s just say that P40K will be enough to get you one. For our part, we’re cooking up an XPERIA X1 review as we finally got our grubby hands on one, but it’ll take a little bit of time since this baby’s got a ton of features we’d like to go through first before releasing our take on this long awaited smartphone.

Is it worth the long wait? We’ll soon find out.

Sony Ericsson to offer Unlimited Music Download

It looks like Nokia-rival Sony Ericsson is going to battle it out with the Finnish company in the realm of the music download scene. While Nokia may have struck the first blow with their Comes with Music service, Sony Ericsson has been reported to be considering going the same route.

If Nokia has chosen to bundle their servic with their Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone, word is that Sony Ericsson is planning to offer theirs with their Walkman series of phones. No word though if it’ll be available for the entire line or specific models only, but we’ll probably hear an official announcement within the month. If everything goes accordingly, it might be offered in Europe before the year ends. The rest of the world will probably have to wait until next year for the service to roll out in their region.

As for the here and now, Sony Ericsson currently has an existing mobile download service with around 5 million DRM-free songs at their disposal. With that massive collection at their beck and call, Nokia might be in for some stiff competition as far as the music download scene is concerned.

Sony Ericsson W980 wins Best European Music Phone award

The Sony Ericsson W980 Walkman phone, a mobile phone designed to give a clear audio experience, has been recognized at the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) as Best Product in the European Music Phone category.

The EISA Awards are handed out by panels from over 50 prominent photo, video, audio, home theater and mobile electronics magazines from across 20 European countries. All panels work separately, citing new products for the most advanced technology, desirable features, design expression, satisfying ergonomics and value for money. As EISA puts it, the association "recognizes the features most likely to be appreciated by an enthusiast public seeking high quality and creative facilities."

For the Sony Ericsson W980, the association found the ultimate mobile music phone featuring Sony’s pioneering audio enhancing technology. Clear audio experience with Clear Stereo enhances the music listening experience, enabling music to sound like the original recording. Clear Bass delivers distortion free sound even at higher volumes. These features combined with the premium headphones, the Stereo Portable Handsfree HPM-77, deliver an incredible clear audio experience and music that sounds as true as possible to the original recording.

In its statement, the EISA Awards described the W980: "Who could resist this piano-black Walkman-series phone? It’s a quad-band handset loaded with 8 GB of internal memory, a 3.2 megapixel camera, an FM tuner, Bluetooth stereo, and a music player that operates even with the phone flip-lid closed. Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 SDK released

While Sony Ericsson has yet to release the XPERIA X1 to the awaiting public, they have recently announced the availability of a free SDK tool for the XPERIA X1 which will allow developers to take advantage of the X1’s Panel Interface. As for the Windows Mobile-powered phone itself, they’ve assured the public that they’re on track for a 4Q release.

So, aside from the promise that it’ll be available this year, the release of a SDK paints a pretty interesting picture ahead for those waiting to get their hands on the XPERIA X1. With the SDK, 3rd party apps can likewise utilize the Panel Interface and will not only be limited to Sony Ericsson developed software. This way, you’re almost guaranteed that the whole user-experience in the X1 will be completely unique as opposed to other Windows Mobile-running devices. That is, povided of course, if developers will download the SDK tool first and use it on their apps.

Unfortunately, in the greater context of things, these are all just empty promises until the XPERIA X1 is finally release. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that they’ll keep their promise of a 4Q release.

22nd 007 will use Sony Ericsson C902

Sony Ericson is unveiling an exclusive partnership between the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures/Columbia Pictures release of EON Production 22nd James Bond adventure, Quantum of Solace, and the C902 Titanium silver edition.

The phone, as used by James bond - played by actor Daniel Craig in the new film - will be available for a limited period and include a memory card loaded with a host of 007 content.

Users will get the chance to know exactly what it takes to be a secret agent like James Bond with the first level of an exclusive pre-loaded spy-style game. In addition, the full color trailer of the film, behind-the-scenes interviews with the starts and exclusive content such as wallpapers and screen savers will be available on the phone and the memory card.

The C902 Cyber-shot phone is used throughout the film by James bond to capture evidence and assist the agent on his mission. The 5-megapixel camera, with a unique slide-out lens cover, illuminated touch icons providing quick and easy access to camera options, Face detection, Photo flash and Auto focus enables James Bond to send high resolution of his enemies.
